Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island called West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar to its significance. They often believe it's an island located to the west of Montreal, but it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the cities in Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently referenced, however her brief time in the city was not. Brugel developed on Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. In her early years, she wanted to be professional performer, however an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. The article she wrote about her experience revealed that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. After I became too big for my male friends, I quit. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. For Brugel it was the guidance of her drama teacher at high school that led her to take the step she wanted. She was recommended by a teacher to find a role in school's annual play. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the principal part of Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Since then, Brugel has been in over 60 productions both big and small. One of the most memorable was the time she was cast as Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few moments in the very first season of The Handmaid's Tale. The only Canadian member.
